How to Apply for a HeaRTS Training Program
Note: These steps are different from those originally published. If you are interested in attending a HeaRTS training class, these are the steps to follow. 1. Go to “Training Opportunities” on this web site and select a class you are interested in that is being taught in a location near you. A list of all the HeaRTS training programs can be found under the “Calendar” section. Information on each trainer can be found under “List of Trainers.” 2. Apply to the respective school to attend that class. Background checks and drug tests are performed on all persons while in healthcare training. 3. If you are accepted into the class, you then need to apply to HeaRTS at a Career Solutions Center near you. 4. From the list printed below, locate a Career Solutions Center in the parish in which you reside or where you will be in training. If the parish of your choice is not listed, you can choose the listed office closest to where you live or closest to the training facility you would like to attend. 5. Call the program office listed in the parish to arrange an appointment and tell them you want to apply for HeaRTS. 6. You will need to complete paperwork at your appointment. You will also have to take the WorkKeys test then or at another scheduled time. 7. Allow at least 3 hours for WorkKeys testing. 8. The Career Solutions Center staff will contact HeaRTS after you have completed your paperwork and WorkKeys testing. 9. Notify the school after you have completed the HeaRTS application process. All persons trained through the HeaRTS program must work after training in the occupation for which they were trained in a Hurricane Affected Parish.
