Healthcare will account for 1 of every 5 new jobs created by 2014. The industry is expected to grow at twice the rate of all others over the next 7 years. Healthcare is currently one of the largest industries in Louisiana with an estimated 11,336 job vacancies and opportunities growing faster than ever.

Health careers pay well and offer job security. Healthcare professionals can work anywhere and there are consistently more available jobs than trained professionals to fill them.

Health careers assure a wide variety of opportunities in Louisiana both for experienced skilled workers and those just starting their careers. These opportunities allow Louisiana residents and those interested in relocating to Louisiana the freedom to choose a career in the beautiful bayou state.

HeaRTS – Healthcare Recovery Training System, a broad collaborative composed of 30 partners from industry, education, workforce development and community-based organizations, is coordinated by the Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center (SWLAHEC).
The HeaRTS program is funded through a Community Development Block Grant Program known as the Recovery Workforce Training Program (RWTP).  The RWTP was established by the Louisiana Recovery Authority, in collaboration with the State Office of Community Development’s Disaster Recovery Unit and the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

HeaRTS Mission ...

HeaRT - Healtcare Recovery Training System

The HeaRTS logo, designed by the Russo Group, incorporates several key aspects of this important program. The four puzzle pieces composing the heart symbolize the four sectors that are necessary to make any sector-based initiative a success - industry, educational systems, workforce investment offices and community-based organizations.
